KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 12
Police have arrested two people on charges of assaulting the principal of Bal Uddhar Secondary School in Budhanilkantha over a student admission dispute.
The arrested are local resident Nishan Dahal and former chair of the school management committee Dhruv Ghimire. They were taken into custody on Sunday, said Dan Bahadur Thapa, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range.
According to police, the dispute arose after Principal Binod Pandit told those involved that the deadline for student admission had expired.
The incident drew widespread attention after a video showing the principal being assaulted on the school premises circulated on social media. The footage appears to show a young man arguing with Pandit before punching and kicking him.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology took the incident seriously.
