Stock market falls 9 points, trading declines

The stock market’s benchmark index fell 9.62 points on Tuesday. Following the decline, NEPSE stood at 2,603 points.

Trading volume also declined. Turnover fell from Rs 5.38 billion the previous day to Rs 4.65 billion today. Prices of 69 companies rose while 199 declined. Ten companies’ prices remained unchanged.

By sub-index, trade fell the most, down 1.87 percent. Banking fell 0.13 percent, development banks 0.45 percent, finance 0.32 percent, hotels and tourism 0.65 percent, hydropower 0.52 percent, investment 0.22 percent, life insurance 0.37 percent, manufacturing and processing 0.50 percent, and microfinance 0.55 percent. Non-life insurance rose 0.11 percent and other groups rose 0.12 percent.

Today’s top gainers included Sayapatri Hydropower, up 6.79 percent; Sarbottam Paints, up 6.29 percent; Hathway Investment Company, up 3.46 percent; and Menchhiyam Hydropower, up 3.40 percent.

Top losers included Dhaulagiri Laghubitta, down 4.23 percent; Apollo Hydropower, down 4.14 percent; Shikhar Power, down 4.08 percent; Mandu Hydropower, down 3.72 percent; and Kalinchowk Darshan, down 3.01 percent.

Companies with the highest turnover today were, in order, Himalayan Distillery, Shivam Cement, Siddhartha Bank, Garima Bikas Bank, Hathway Investment Company, Reliance Spinning Mills, and Mountain Energy.
