KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 30
The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended the National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (N-PABSAN) until further notice, accusing the organisation of repeatedly failing to comply with government directives and acting contrary to its approved objectives.
In a public notice issued Thursday, the ministry said the association had ignored instructions issued under the National Directives Act, 2018, despite repeated warnings and consultations with concerned stakeholders.
According to the ministry, discussions were held on October 9, and N-PABSAN was urged to comply with directives issued on November 28, 2025. However, the association failed to implement the required measures, prompting the government to invoke Section 6(2) of the Act and impose an indefinite suspension.
The ministry said the action was taken because of continued non-compliance with directives issued under Section 5 of the law.
It also warned that any activities conducted in the name of N-PABSAN by any group or faction after the suspension would be considered illegal and could face legal action under prevailing laws.
The suspension marks a significant move against one of the country’s major private school umbrella organisations and is likely to have implications for its activities and representation until the government’s concerns are addressed.
